game sickness?

The other day I was reading that there is a physical health problem call Nintenditis: an injury that causes severe pain in the extensor tendon of the thumb as a result of button presses (Höysniemi, 2006). After read this, for my inside I said: Com’on, that is a bit too much!.

Few hours after that personal comment, on the train and without anything else to read, then I decided to play with my handy. Actually, I thought I had played all what it is in there. But I found a new game for me, hidden in the Applications folder. The name of the game is Pitfall Jungle, so GOOOOD!!! . However, the story goes that I had played it for some hours, until believe it or not, my thumb hurts then perhaps I am having some Nokiaitis 😉

video games competition in the Olympic games?

I admit that I had been a fanatic of the Olympic Games. For example, when our video recorder showed up at my home, I start to record the inauguration, resume and closure of them. Yeap a fanatic, I accept it. Even though, when they overwhelming with SO many sports the fun were gone.

But now I have a personal battle in my own opinion, reading this
article
to put video games IN the Olympics, without even mentioned which types of games (from a wide classification that exits). For sure in this type of topics there is not middle way, you like it or not. However neither argument convince me. Wondering which one is the public’s opinion?

small consternation…

First I read about DOPA:
The US is in a process to create a law to forbid the use of networking sites and chat room in schools and libraries, which could mean digitalized thoughts, reflections and discussions will be prohibited at school time, which are places that theoretically have people and resources to guide you in further reflection, criticism, discussion and understanding.

Later about PeaceMaker:
My wish came true 😉 and there is a simulation game call
Peace Maker, which simulates the Israel-Palestinian conflict. It seems they are doing a great effort on it, and they are really enthusiastic about it. Actually, I hope we will get it for our department now when it is out, it will be great to see it, and over all to play it. I am really looking forward!. But a new wish comes, and it is to hear or read the Palestine opinion of the game, not only from Israel.

Then to finalize this post, with the information that I have at this point of those two events, leaves me with a small concern feeling

more games…

and now, other type of GAMES, which some of these ones can be personal and/or political sensitive, but for sure interesting.

Now, for the no so far away world experience, that brought a huge polemic, on topics as speech freedom and culture respect. In other words, ANY statement will make happy to everybody at the same time about the same thing, it always be people unhappy for different reasons and circumstances. And in purpose, I don’t want to get deeper on this. But all this rumble comes because, it is a personal decision to click the links and play the games, as any interpretation of them. On my side, as I said on March 5th, not all games are of shooting, sports or racing cars. I am trying to bring together in this games section of the blog, a diversity of well done elaborate games (my analysis and/or personal opinion on them, might come later on time).

Then enjoy!

1. against the dictatorship of entertainment
2. persuasivegames
3. september 12 (this one is more a simultation, but it can fit in this block)

What a life eh!!! 😉
