I would like to hear the argument of the city administrators or economists towards this phenomena:
a bus ride in Helsinki costs 2.20 euros, a bus ride in Tampere costs 2.00 euros and a bus ride in Joensuu costs 2.70 euros

Here you go, first two that came to my mind: less customers, higher oil price.
Btw., I think the problems of public transportation in Jns, e.g. why there has not been a discount card, or a monthly-card, would be a good topic to pursue by some student-organization.
More reasons: Greedy capitalists? Incompetent local politicians? Incapable student union? Passive townspeople?
Hmm.. Student union has tried to get the student discount to buses for ages. Actually i thought that they have managed to do it already, but apparently this is not the case…
However, buy a bicycle, that is the way people get to places in Joensuu anyway.
