This time I lose my common economical sense, or I am turning to be a complete fanatic. Yeap, what it happened is I had enter one of those places full of magazines, just that magazines. This one in specific was bigger than the bookstore in downtown Joensuu. And it is a pity I can’t download my pictures right now in order for me to show it (an image talks more than 100 words), but later I will do it. In any case, I got as a child in a toy store, specially in those sections in which I have a personal interest, as MAC stuff for example. In any case, on the games section, there were over 30 different types of magazines. Oh my!!! I think until now I got conscience of that fact.

On the other hand, I know I have been delaying my decision-request or an application of a wish list for new games for our group. In a way, something was stopping me to decided myself on this topic. Now I know why, and now I am really making this list based not only on theoretical fundaments of my internet search, and/or personal taste. Also from print press done by different ages groups, tastes, languages, etc. Then yes, the crazy thing I did, is ALL the magazines I bought. And I didn’t get all of them ‘cos I didn’t have the money, otherwise careful !!!, but you will see what I got. Crazy!!!! (but happy!)

Later on, while waiting for a train and reading a book, I got a new question. Aren’t educational magazines for teachers or for people which are interested in teaching-learning situations?! . Let me explain, as in books store, this magazines are organized by topics, you can find magazines of all kinds: TV, entertainment, sex, photography, sports, family, wedding, cloths, cartoons, parents, home, gardens, cars, programming, music, religion, health, knowledge, gossips, politic, business, etc. But there is nothing on the topic of teachers or education as a topic itself.

It might be that those topics are implicit, or merge into the other diversity of topics. As how to teach your kid to go potty training. But if I am someone with interest in education in general and read a magazine only on education, there is not a specific section of it. Then I though it would be such an exclusive activity that you can’t find it in a common daily life magazine that “common” people can read at any time? I know there exist journals, conferences, of each field but you also can buy daily life magazines to have an idea of what is going on in a diversity of fields from another perspective which is the opinion of people who are not involved in research itself, but they are informing in another way.. But I haven’t top myself with one of this type into this general teaching-learning, or does someone has seen one!?

and now, other type of GAMES, which some of these ones can be personal and/or political sensitive, but for sure interesting.

Now, for the no so far away world experience, that brought a huge polemic, on topics as speech freedom and culture respect. In other words, ANY statement will make happy to everybody at the same time about the same thing, it always be people unhappy for different reasons and circumstances. And in purpose, I don’t want to get deeper on this. But all this rumble comes because, it is a personal decision to click the links and play the games, as any interpretation of them. On my side, as I said on March 5th, not all games are of shooting, sports or racing cars. I am trying to bring together in this games section of the blog, a diversity of well done elaborate games (my analysis and/or personal opinion on them, might come later on time).

search engine just of images with no words

Today, I have face myself with a known personal problem: “Words”

Well it is not my strong side at all, even though some people would say I can talk a lot. But the words, and/or writing properly is not my gift, even though I love to read. Anyway, today I was looking for a game that I played a lot as a teenager. And I search for this game, in this virtual world full of information (our internet) for some time. First with the name I remember of it, but nothing. Then, I try different combinations, descriptions, and so on, and nothing.

Suddenly I though, it will be so nice that I can make a diagram of it and search for it, there is no way I could miss it, it is SO simple. As a “natural” consequence I would be able to have a search of it just putting the picture and said look for similar, and I bet, the probabilities to find it would increase.

I know there is people working with this image databases, but I realized in this “fantasy” moment, that ALWAYS you have to put a word to get an image, or select a word of a menu list, but mainly always is a word involved in the topic. I haven’t seen an image database, still, in which the query is an image as well. At least no starting from zero. I think I had seen for the second round search, the possibility to click in a line which says: looking for similar, but no so sure. Or do you know of any Database of that type?

Now, I have no idea if that sounds silly, but today I felt I require it. I have no idea if that makes sense, but it would be interesting to express ourselves with drawings as well. At the end besides text the internet is full of icons, images, pictures and others graphical elements. In fact thinking further it might even help to those who do not know how to read and write (even though read and write is quite useful) or don’t have the common language, but they can communicate by dragging and dropping images, then each one can look later on what is the meaning of that image in their own language…. anyway, it might not have sense what I am saying, but today I got craving to have access to one of those “fantasy” applications.

Last night Andres and Roman were playing with a computer game, of the type of clouds. Flow quite nice.

Another game, which I found cute is snowflakes, a bit different in relation with the flow, but as well interesting.

Now, what it makes me “think” in moments as this one, when I am full of energy and I can’t really think, for my own internal noise as a result of excess of a need of activity. Which by the way I have enough things to do, but all of them need my concentration, which I can’t get right now ‘cos my inner is spinning, without asking me. I wonder how to put out some of this power, in a more productive way without much concentration or thinking, and being in the place I “should” be, as behaving accordingly in a classroom or meeting, but at the same time, using this “chaos” energy, no just controlling it…… that is something to think about….
